PSG open talks with Antonio Conte over a potential summer switch

Paris Saint Germain have reportedly opened preliminary talks with current Tottenham boss Antonio Conte as they look to replace Mauricio Pochettino this summer.

The French side are almost certain to part ways with Pochettino following their exit at the Champions League round of 16 stage, the acid test for all Paris Saint Germain managers. And, according to reports coming out of Italy, they could re-trace their footsteps and take another Tottenham manager in the form of Antonio Conte this summer.

Conte is clearly struggling at Spurs this season, and has previously hinted that he would walk away in the summer if not backed correctly transfers-wise. Ahead of Spurs’ most recent clash with Brighton, he made similar claims, telling Football.London:

‘I have a vision. One vision. I want to fight to win. I want to fight to be competitive. I want to feel that we only have one per cent but we need one per cent to win the title or a trophy in which we participate. We have to feel this. This is my vision and I continue to have this vision’

‘Then I know that there are different visions and many clubs have different visions but I think which is my vision and the vison that brought me to be competitive and for sure I follow my vision in any case.’

Conte’s get out clause?

As per a report in Football.Italia, Conte’s Tottenham contract contains a clause that will allow the pair to part ways for nothing in the summer, leaving him potentially available for new opportunities.

And while he would undoubtedly relish the opportunity to work with flying full-back Achraf Hakimi, who he turned into a world class player while at Inter, would his style of football suit the likes of Neymar and Lionel Messi?

It would be a massive gamble, but something has to change in Paris.
