Manchester United defender Luke Shaw may be forced to watch the end of the season from the sidelines following surgery for a previous injury seeing him potentially ruled out for longer than initially anticipated.
Shaw was forced off at half-time as Manchester United held on for a draw against Leicester City at Old Trafford 10 days ago, and it has been revealed that it was screws in his leg from his horror double leg break in 2015 that were causing the pain, meaning that they have had to since be removed.
‘The Manchester United left-back went under the knife last week and Ralf Rangnick was planning to be without him for three weeks’, the Telegraph report.
‘But assessment of the procedure has led to the England international being ruled out for longer, with his campaign in doubt as United chase a Champions League place with seven games to play.’

Losing the 26 year old for the remainder of the campaign would leave Ralf Rangnick with just Alex Telles as an option at left-back from the senior side, a defender who has flattered to deceive in his 18 months at Old Trafford to date.
United face battle for Europa League football
As things stand, Manchester United will make history as the second English team to take part in the new Europa Conference League, Europe’s third tier competition.
They sit 7th in the Premier League after a disastrous season, behind former manager David Moyes’ West Ham side, although they do have a game in hand on the Hammers. With games against Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal still to come in their final 7 games, they could struggle to make a Europa League place come the final standings.
It would represent a major from a side that had title aspirations and disasters in August.
