This comes as the Spanish club have announced that midfield general Geoffrey Kondogbia has suffered a thigh injury, after he was substituted in their 2-0 win over Celta Vigo at the weekend.

While he is currently being assessed, it is a short turnaround of just two weeks before Diego Simeone’s side face Manchester United at Old Trafford, leaving him a doubt for the game.
Red Devils will be well-aware of just how big an advantage that could be following his stellar performance against Paul Pogba in the first leg at the Wanda Metropolitano in the 1st leg.

United need improved performance
Despite a credible 1-1 draw in Spain, Manchester United will know full well that another performance like that produced in the first leg will likely see them knocked out of the competition, as they were poor on all fronts and frankly fortunate to come away with the draw.

Nonetheless, they did get the all-important goal that means that they, in theory, have the home advantage for the second leg, and a chance to advance to the quarter finals.
