Benfica forward Darwin Nunez is a man in demand in the Premier League, and has been for the last 12 months. Brighton’s summer interest was rebuffed, while Newcastle and West Ham saw their own bids turned down in January.
Darwin Núñez will be another big name to watch in the summer. West Ham made an official bid for him on Deadline Day in Jan: €48m turned down by Benfica. 🇺🇾 #UCL

Now, as his stock continues to rise however, the Uruguayan has begun leaving clubs like that behind, and is attracting interest from bigger fish. Both Arsenal and Manchester United, as well as Spanish side Atletico Madrid, have been credited with interest in the marksman, with all on the hunt for new blood to replace their ageing veteran strikers.
Nunez targeting CL football
Currently, Nunez is enjoying a fruitful season in the Champions League this season, netting the winner in Benfica’s last 16 tie with Ajax to set up a quarter-final with Liverpool.
And, perhaps understandably, he is unwilling to take a step down from Europe’s Premier Competition next campaign, and will look for his next side to be able to offer continued representation in it.
That is according to the Telegraph, who claim that ‘United’s chances of securing his signature will therefore depend on where they finish in this season’s race for the top four’. Arsenal meanwhile, while not holding the same level of interest as the Red Devils at present, will be subject to the same demands.
Benfica break the deadlock in Amsterdam! 😤
Onana comes out to try and catch Grimaldo’s free-kick, but it’s Darwin Nunez who pounces first and powers home a header.

It is unclear whether either side will yet be able to offer him that luxury next campaign.
