Barcelona have joined the chase for out-of-favor forward Marcus Rashford as it emerged that he was considering his future following a Manchester Derby snub.
Rashford was overlooked for the clash with Manchester City despite being the only fit forward in the squad, with Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes asked to occupy the striker roles instead by Ralf Rangnick.
It didn’t work, as Manchester United fell to a 4-1 loss, although Rashford’s second half introduction did little to change matters.
However, the reverberations were significant, as news soon emerged that the Englishman club, who has been at United for his entire career, was ‘considering his future’ at the Englishman out of contract in 2023. have an option to extend the deal by another year.

And, as per the Manchester Evening news, Barcelona are keen on the winger, who has found the net five times this season, while Liverpool also hold an interest.
‘Barcelona have wasted little time in touching base with Rashford’s camp to confirm they would be interested in signing the 24-year-old. Liverpool are said to have also made it known they are admirers of Rashford’, Samuel Luckhurst reports.
However, they add that ‘despite the development, it is understood deep down Rashford does not want to leave United and the move could spur the club into opening discussions over a new long-term contract.’
Better to wait?
Of course, there will be plenty of change at Old Trafford in the summer, not least in the dugout, where a new manager with a new style will enter the picture. With this in mind, and the ageing stable of forwards Manchester United currently boast, Rashford may be best off bidding his time and trying to impress the next man in charge.
That could, however, put his World Cup place in jeopardy.
